2024 Summer School: Access to Course Materials
The Compute Ontario Summer School is an annual online training event covering a variety of introductory and advanced topics in advanced research computing (ARC), high-performance computing (HPC), and research data management (RDM). This year’s Summer School is over but you can still access the supporting materials for each course by clicking here. Please note these are static course materials, not asychronous learning modules — hands-on activities that were part of the course are no longer available. Dates for the 2025 Compute Ontario Summer School will be announced in the spring.
The Summer School is jointly organized by SHARCNET, SciNet, and the Centre for Advanced Computing, in collaboration with the RDM Network of Experts. Over 800 students attended the 2024 summer school, which offered 38 courses covering various aspects of Advanced Research Computing, Research Data Management and cybersecurity. ranging in length from 1 to 18 hours. In response to survey feedback, this year’s summer school offered additional domain-specific content (Computational Fluid Dynamics, Bioinformatics) and more courses focused on AI, Machine Learning and neural networks.
The Summer School typically offers:
Two parallel streams, ensuring flexibility and tailored learning experiences.
Sessions five days a week, providing ample opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills.
Six hours of immersive learning each day in each stream, allowing for a deep dive into the subject matter.
Workshops and presentations on advanced research computing, high-performance computing tools, programming languages, machine learning, visualization, programming GPUs, bioinformatics, research data management, and more.
Difficulty levels ranging from beginner to intermediate to advanced, with prerequisites clearly outlined in each workshop description.
