Creating frameworks to optimize the power of data while ensuring privacy and security
TORONTO, April 20, 2020 – Today, the CIO Strategy Council and Compute Ontario announced a new strategic partnership to collaborate on the development of new standards and conformity assessment solutions for data governance, in such areas as data trusts and in building a more agile digital workforce.
As organizations with a deep understanding of the potential opportunities and threats associated with data intensive technologies, including the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI) and supercomputing, this partnership will drive the creation of intellectual capital to advance digital innovation and accelerate the development of critical, pan-Canadian standards and specifications for data governance.
“The digital ecosystem is changing, and with it, so is how our data is used, accessed and monetized,” said Keith Jansa, Executive Director, CIO Strategy Council. “We are pleased to be working alongside Compute Ontario in bringing together the academic research community, policymakers and business to drive the creation of next generation data standards and protocols to advance Canada’s digital economy.”
Nizar Ladak, President & CEO, Compute Ontario, added, “Compute Ontario’s organizational mission is to accelerate research and enhance competitiveness by bringing together high-performance computing, its highly-skilled workforce, and data for a more prosperous Ontario. We are honoured to partner with the CIO Strategy Council to create a stronger and broader network of expertise to achieve our common goal of furthering innovation and digital transformation within our economy.”
