What is Digital Research Infrastructure?

Digital research infrastructure (DRI) is the collection of technology, people, tools, and services that allow researchers to turn raw data into scientific breakthroughs. Ontario’s digital research ecosystem is evolving rapidly, and researchers across all disciplines need access the digital research infrastructure (DRI) required for leading-edge research. Compute Ontario and our consortia are committed to delivering a robust, responsive digital research ecosystem. This ecosystem is built on the pillars of research data management, research software, and advanced research computing, and is run by highly qualified personnel with the necessary skills, experience and expertise.

CO’s role in the DRI ecosystem

Ontario’s DRI ecosystem is a complex network of organizations that provide researchers with support and services spanning data collection, computation and analysis, data management and knowledge translation.

Compute Ontario coordinates infrastructure funding and skills development initiatives, as well as the operation and delivery of digital research systems and services to ensure Ontario researchers have access to the power of these tools.
